Smyth County Museum

The Smyth County Historical Society and Museum was founded in 1961 by Mrs. Clara Hill Carner with the mission to preserve and protect the history of the region through the collection, protection, display and interpretation of artifacts and outreach programs. Also known as the Holston River Heritage Center.

Find exhibits on Smyth County’s rich history, help with genealogical research, and special programs and lectures. Open April through December, Mondays – Saturdays noon to 4pm. Read more in our article about Smyth County’s most interesting historical sites.
