Grayson Highlands State Park
The highland balds of this Virginia State Park offer unparalleled views, fishing, hiking, bouldering, and of course, the park’s famous wild ponies. Hikes range in difficulty from an easy, family-friendly 1.6 mile loop, to more challenging backcountry hikes. For an added challenge, take the Mount Rogers Spur Trail into Jefferson National Forest, and reach the highest peak in Virginia. Start your visit at the Visitor Center and Shop, hiking maps and guides available. Important: please help us keep wildlife wild. Do not approach or feed the ponies.
